Is Shortcut really free forever?
Yes. The Free plan has no time limit and supports unlimited users. It's designed for small teams or teams that want to try Shortcut without a purchase decision. Upgrade when you need advanced features like sprints, roadmaps, or reporting.
How does billing work?
You can pay monthly or annually. Annual billing is billed once per year and saves about 15% versus monthly. Pricing is per user per month. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time.
What happens when I hit the 10,000 story limit on Free?
You'll see a prompt to upgrade to Team or Business. You can also archive old stories to stay within the limit — archived stories do not count toward the cap and remain searchable.
Do you offer a free trial?
Team and Business plans include a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. You get full access to all features during the trial period.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time from your workspace settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Do you offer discounts for nonprofits or startups?
Yes. Shortcut has special programs for qualified nonprofits and early-stage startups. See the special programs section below or contact sales for details.
What security certifications does Shortcut have?
Shortcut is SOC2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant. HIPAA/BAA coverage is available on Business and Enterprise plans. SSO (SAML) is available on Business; SCIM provisioning on Enterprise.
